In line with one of our key objectives "to showcase new talent and to develop young musical talent across Ayrshire" we have developed a programme of workshops for young people of all ages to come along and try your hand - or mind - at something new.
The workshops will all be held on Saturday 10th September in the Walker Hall. No booking is required, but places will be allocated on a first come first served basis - so make sure you get there in plenty of time to ensure you don't miss out!
| Jo Jingles (for under 5 years) |
10am - 11am |
Music, singing and dancing - what better way for tots and toddlers to express themselves? Jo Jingles leads the fun in this educationally based music and movement session for little groovers. The benefits of introducing music and rhythm into young children's lives are widely recognised for providing the basic building blocks of language, improving coordination, self-confidence, self-expression and awareness of the world around us. Youngsters love it - and mums and dads will get a lot out of it too! |

Before establishing himself as a solo artist, Alan played with local acts The Kytes, Southbeach and the Jill Jackson Band, during which time he played support to Paolo Nutini, Texas and many more. In 2009 Alan took to the stage at T in the Park, Scotland's largest music festival. Alan really is a class act, so this masterclass is one not to be missed! If you play or sing - not necessarily both - bring along your musical instruments and your voice for what will truly be a workshop to be remembered. |

Come along and learn a thing or two about how Jamie's found success. We hope Jamie will have some instruments just in case you forget or don't have one yet, but if you do bring them along for what will be an inspiring workshop. |
| Music industry insight with Paul McHolland (for all ages) |
12 noon - 1.00pm | Paul, originally from Glasgow, moved to Kilmarnock just before becoming a teenager and played in the coolest band in Kilmarnock in the 80's - The Longhorns. Paul's love of music took him on an incredible journey which is portrayed in his book "Tomorrow, Remember Yesterday". The book tells his story of the impact music had on him from his first flush of youth to later in his life. Paul associates some of the most profound moments in his life with music which come to life in this book. He believes we gain and experience so much from music. Come along and hear Pauls' story and be ready to be inspired. |
Fancy trying your hand at video journalism? If so, we'd like to hear from YOU! We're recruiting a small team of young volunteers to form a street team to get into the thick of it - on-street interviews; live footage of the gigs and generally capture the mood of this great Festival!
If you're 14 or over, and can commit to the weekend before and the weekend of the Festival, get in touch!
But be warned, this is an intensive, experiential course involving project management and technical know-how, with massive injections of team work, problem solving, communications, innovation and creativity. In short, it'll be brilliant!
Thanks to the Round Table for supporting our education workshops.
